After finding success in the ASA Late Model Series when he was only a teenager Cassill made the jump to NASCAR in 2007 in the Nationwide Series and he went on to win the 2008 Nationwide Series Rookie of the Year. He is still looking for his first Nationwide victory, but he has six Top 10 finishes. He made his Sprint Cup debut at Michigan in 2010 driving for James Finch. He finished 38th in his debut.
